Fashion maven and Instagram-influencer Kara Pearson lives a breezy California lifestyle filled with asymmetrical ripped denim, sun dresses, and the occasional jacket draped over her shoulders.
All of this is set against a beautiful backdrop of beaches, grade-A photography, and an admiration of Audrey Hepburn, which she writes about on her blog, Styled by Kara.
She dishes out life advice, is probably a better food photographer than you, and is always on the go with her creative adventures. Where has her smartphone taken her lately?
Where have you been traveling recently?
This summer I did a lot of traveling in my home state of California, specifically to Malibu, Santa Barbara, and Hollister Ranch.
Santa Barbara is my hometown. I love driving up the PCH [Pacific Coast Highway] to get there. The entire drive is just filled with breathtaking views of the ocean. That’s something I never want to take for granted.
I also spent some time with family on the east coast at a beach house in Ocean City, New Jersey. We go there every year for quality family time. It’s all about riding bicycles on the boardwalk and enjoying long days on the beach.
What app do you use the most?
Instagram. It’s how I stay connected to friends and find inspiration. My friends always laugh because they get a faster response when they DM me on Instagram instead of iMessage.
What’s your battery freak-out point when you need to plug in?
My battery freak out usually is when the percentage turns a different color. Anything under 25 percent has me turning my phone to low-battery mode and frantically finding a place to recharge.
How often do you recharge throughout the day?
I usually charge my phone overnight, and will typically need another charge in the afternoon.
What’s the worst place you’ve lost power to your phone?
I first moved to LA when I was 18. I had no clue how difficult it would be to navigate the city. My phone died while I was driving to my downtown LA apartment from the West Side. I had no car charger and no idea where I was.
I had to pull over and buy a map to get home the old school way. I swore I would always have a portable charger, like Ventev’s powercell 3015, as my back-up plan just in case.
What’s your most-liked Instagram photo?
My most-liked Instagram photo is a picture of me in DTLA wearing my favorite denim jacket from H&M. It was taken for fun while I was running around the neighborhood vintage shopping with my friend Xan.
