As the child of educators, professional organizer Bonnie Joy Dewkett brings a lifelong love of learning and constant improvement to her craft.
You might recognize her from her appearances on TV Land’s “Best Night In” or through her podcast “The Joyful Organizer,” or her blog, where she takes a practical approach that appeals to parents of small children and homes filled with crafters.
She and her husband are technophiles who rely on mobile devices to manage their personal lives and their businesses, so we wanted to get her approach on how to keep track of mobile charging needs.
Q: How do mobile devices play into your daily work and activities? Has it changed in the past five years?
Bonnie: My husband and I have always been tech geeks. We love gadgets. However, going more mobile has helped us run our businesses, even away from home. We have laptops, tablets, and iPhones … we can use mobile internet and work anytime, anywhere. It’s perfect when you’re traveling for business, or you need to get away for a few days. Most of our clients never know we’re not sitting in an office.
Q: How many mobile devices do you have in your household (e.g., cell phone, tablet)?
Bonnie: Too many to count … at least three for each of us!
Q: Where do you charge your devices?
Bonnie: We charge tablets and laptops on our desks and phones in the bedroom. I use a USB hub to charge a few things at once and I carry a travel outlet with me that allows me to charge multiple devices at once AND offers surge protection.
Q: Any tips for taming tangled cables or other tech messes?
Bonnie: I love using cord organizers. Some of my favorites are desktop USB hubs with five ports. I also love to use these for ALL my headphones and chargers.
