That buzzing sound you hear isn’t a swarm of bees. It’s the tech world, and they’re talking about Samsung’s Galaxy Note8.
This phone, announced Aug. 23, is getting a lot of attention, with Wired saying “on paper, this is Samsung’s most impressive device ever.”
That’s quite the kudos.
The Note series is Samsung’s nod to power users. The Note8’s no-touch iris scanner, for example, allows health care workers to unlock their phone without having to use their hands. With Samsung’s DeX dock, you can connect the Note8 to a monitor, full keyboard, and mouse to run it like a desktop computer you can carry in their pocket. The S-Pen, Samsung’s stylus, got a finer tip and more precise pressure sensitivity. Not to mention that you can now use two apps at the same time for real multi-tasking.
In terms of battery specs, the Note8 trades a fairly big battery for faster charging. Its 3,300 mAh battery is smaller than the battery in the Galaxy S8+ and the Note7, but it is fully compatible with proven fast charging specs, including Samsung’s Adaptive Fast Charging System, and Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 compatible.

The Note8 will come bundled with one of two gifts. Users can choose between the Samsung Gear 360 camera ($229 value) or a combo 128 GB SD card and Samsung Fast Wireless Charger (Stand) ($190 value).
But you’ll want to pick up some other accessories too. Once we complete our full testing, we’ll update you on which chargers refill the Note8’s battery the fastest, but for now, here are some recommendations:
The wirelesspro dock, a universal wireless charger that mounts to your car’s air vents. It features the latest wireless charging standards like Qi 1.2.2, PMA, and is also compatible with Samsung’s Adaptive Fast Wireless charging. Unlike most wireless car chargers, you can stream music, run GPS, and arrive at your destination with more battery than when you left.
Power users can’t wait around for others to make space on the charger. We recommend the USB charginghub rq600, which features 6 charging ports – one of which is Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 compatible and will fast charge the Note8. Five additional ports with auto-detect technology provide the maximum power (up to 2.4A each) for your Apple and Android mobile device needs. Switch the hub between vertical and horizontal configurations, and coil the detachable 5-foot cord to pack it for travel.
And don’t forget spare cables. Ventev’s chargesync alloy come in C<->C and A->C configurations. They’re tough, and stylish. Just ask Business Insider, which called them “The best durable cable around.”
The Samsung Galaxy Note8 is sure to catch the eye of power users and fans of the Note series alike. Let’s just hope they can stay charged.
